  • puny -- comes from Fr. puisné meaning later-born. The original borrowing "puisne" is still in use in the British judiciary to indicate untitled judges on the Supreme Court for example: "The court is composed of the President and Deputy President and 10 puisne Justices of the Supreme Court." <nowiki>Template:Cn</nowwiki>
